We are the virtual home for parents of children with autism by giving orientation and confidence”

We are looking for you!

Do you like our vision? Are you…

• Computer specialist,

Our next steps are:

• Finalization of the business plan with stakeholders
• Formation of an operational team
• First funding (grants, social investors)
• Platform development, technical development of core tools and offers
• Extension and deepening of scientific research to feed the therapy configurator and the evaluation tool with data.

Who is the woman behind this platform?

Mag. Martina Weissensteiner:

“As the mother of an autistic son and as music therapist who works primarily with children in the autism spectrum, I was able to gain extensive knowledge and have deep insights into both roles.

The wealth of information and the simultaneous lack of orientation and an overview of the effectiveness of different approaches make it difficult for parents to make meaningful decisions.

I am familiar with the common practice that children only receive the therapies offered at the local therapy center and that the decision on which approach to take depends on where the waiting time is shortest.

Unfortunately, this approach is often not the best choice for that particular child.

Despite their effectiveness, many approaches are not taken into account, which primarily reflects the donor’s opinion. However, the donor’s opinion is not usually based on the latest scientific knowledge.

They are not alone in this. The knowledge of an incredible number of doctors and therapists lags behind the current state of science.

I was lucky!

In terms of content, my studies in music therapy prepared me very well for autism. I had a solid foundation of knowledge when my son came into my life.

Then I was lucky again.

As the diagnosis slowly became clear to me, in my son’s early years (through my husband’s dissertation) I had constant access to a variety of articles about Pubmed. I was able to get an insight into almost all current studies and their results.

Even then I was aware that this is an enormous privilege and that most parents have neither this special opportunity nor that all parents have the prerequisites to deal with scientific publications and to use the results specifically for themselves.

Since then I have had the wish, yes, the urgent need to make the current knowledge, the current knowledge and the necessary orientation in this information jungle available to other parents and to found this platform.

But I couldn’t start right away.

There should be a few more children and a few moves, as well as a house construction in between. But now I’m here and I want to finally make a difference and help other families who are in the situation I was in a decade ago. ”

All parents have a common goal. They want their children to be able to live independently and independently in adulthood.

For some children, this goal is more difficult to achieve, for others it is not achievable.

When it comes to diagnosing autism, there is currently no scientifically-based prognosis of how a child will develop.

On the one hand, autism has a very inhomogeneous appearance.

The diagnosis alone does not give a sufficient indication of the potential that this child actually has.

On the other hand, optimal aid and therapeutic support are very important, but also empathy and stability of the family system.

Parents of children diagnosed with autism face many special challenges.

There is a very confusing field of therapies, support and aids.

Parents have to do extensive research to find out which therapies or aids can best help their child with his individual talent profile to fully develop his own potential in the long term.

The challenges of everyday life with autistic children are considerably higher, which is why most parents can hardly cope with this research effort.

In addition, much information is scientifically unfounded, difficult to find, or out of date.

Unfortunately, especially in their desperate situation, parents quickly become victims of particularly promising approaches, which are expensive at best and free of side effects, but unfortunately often also endanger physical or mental health.

Therapy configurator

We offer an overview of the different therapeutic approaches, aids and support methods and help parents find the best way for the individual requirements of their child.

Our work is based on scientifically proven knowledge, on the basis of which we select the most sensible interventions.

Parents can create a profile of their children, which uses diagnostic methods to determine the status at all relevant levels, including all of the currently greatest challenges.

A database with all current scientific knowledge now comes into play and supports the algorithm in calculating the next step best way for this child.

Then a database with therapists of all presented methods is opened, who already have a lot of experience with autistic people.

The parents receive the contact details, the introduction of the person and the way of working, available appointments etc. in the regional environment (radius freely selectable).

In addition, they receive a selection of currently useful aids that are also available in the platform shop and are therefore available to parents within a few days.

This process is now repeated regularly or as required.

The parents update the current developments and progress in their child’s profile and can thus find out whether a next approach could be the next best step.

Progress Assessment Tool:

This part of the process is also used to obtain feedback for the recommendation and to scientifically examine the effectiveness of the method in practice using standardized questionnaires.

Information:

In addition to this central tool, this platform also offers other directions and instructions that should save valuable time and energy for parents. For Example:

  • Paths to financial support
  • Paths to inclusive educational offers
  • Paths to inclusive, autism-friendly leisure activities
  • Path for a stress-free everyday life.

Forum – interaction:

To counteract the social isolation that many parents of autistic children suffer from, another central point of this platform is a forum that offers exchange.

Initiatives for physical meetings are also planned. Children have the opportunity to make friends and parents can network with each other in an enriching and supportive way.

Parent (self) coaching Programs

Studies confirm that the stress on parents of autistic children is extremely high. Yes, even higher than most other chronic diseases that require a lot of care.

It should come as no surprise that these parents sometimes reach their limits in this special situation in life.

We would like to give these parents strength for their strenuous everyday life and to equip them with tools that help them to cope with stress in a positive way, to introduce self-care as an important part of their lives and to promote inner growth and personal development in this exceptional situation.

This platform is to be financed through several channels:

  • Public funding (the platform does some essential health care and counseling)
  • Membership fees from parents who receive multi-year support here.
  • Membership fees of the therapists whose services are conveyed here
  • Revenue from the shop, which offers aids, parent self-coaching programs, books, T-shirts etc.
